Sign-in To Watch WorkshopTravis Lindsay is one of the most prolific writers in Canadian Comedy. His great mix of jokes and storytelling has been captivating audiences since the age of 16. A festival favorite, he's made multiple appearances on CBC's Halifax Comedy Festival and his debut album "The Kid is Alright" went #1 on iTunes Comedy Charts. In 2021 he joined Canada's longest running comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes and has been both an on-air Correspondent and writer, was selected to perform at the Just For Laughs in Montreal as a part of the New Faces of Comedy and released his 2nd Album "Killed at the Funeral". With recent appearances on Comedy Night with Rick Mercer and soon to be featured on CBC's The New Wave of Stand-Up Comedy, there's no doubt about it, The Kid is indeed all right.
Line Woods is a screenwriter, filmmaker and stand-up comedian from Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB. She has two diplomas from the Vancouver Film School (Writing for Film, Television and Multi-Media and Advanced Writing [2002]: Rewrites, Development and Production [2003]). She has written, directed and produced several short films that have been featured in film festivals such as the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA); IMAGES Festival of Independent Film and Video and FIN Atlantic International Film Festival.Line also was the creator and head writer of a French television sketch comedy show, which aired in 2022.As a stand-up comedian, Line has performed at the Hubcap Comedy Festival and Festival RIEN. She can also be heard on SiriusXM and is featured on a Just for Laughs audio compilation album, available on all streaming platforms.
Clifton Cremo is a Mi'kmaw stand-up comedian from Eskasoni First Nation. Since starting stand-up in late 2018, Clifton's unique outlooks and First Nations perspectives, coupled with his deft brand of storytelling and wry absurdism have seen him perform across Canada and appear at the Halifax Comedy Festival in 2021 and 2022.
A graduate of Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Clown College, Three Schools of Art, Toronto and Annie Fratellini’s L’ecole Nationale Du Cirque in Paris, France; Beni Malone has almost single-handedly introduced and developed professional clowning and circus arts in Newfoundland and Labrador.
His innovative style and thrilling,energetic performances have entertained thousands of children and adults throughout Newfoundland, the Maritimes, and across Canada.Best known for his work as a professional clown, Beni began his career with the Newfoundland Travelling Theatre Company in 1974. He has performed nationally and internationally in theatre, television and film. Beni is the founder and Artistic Director of Wonderbolt Productions, which has been creating and producing original circus inspired theatre since 1982. Malone has written a variety of critically acclaimed shows including “Reunion At Purgatory High”, with Mark Critch, “All Fool’s Day”, and “Wunderground” an original show for the GEO Centre. Over the past two decades he has presented The Wonderbolt Circus to enthusiastic audiences. Wonderbolt’s circus show “Tricksters” was performed at the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, and their circus shows “Cirkzilla”“Bolt Out of the Blue” and “Circus Glorious” have toured extensively.
Malone has developed curriculum-based circus-arts programs for Phys. Ed classes of all levels. He was instrumental in setting up the Kamataukashiuat Arts Festival in Sheshatshiu and Natuashish, Labrador which ran for nine years. He is presently developing a circus/physical arts program along the remote northern coast of Labrador.Wonderbolt also operates its own Circus School in St. John’s. He was awarded the Arts In Education Award by the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council, and received theArtsNL Artis Achievement Award in 2017. Wonderbolt launched the annual, ongoing, St. John’s International CircusFest in 2018.In addition to this he operates The Space, a downtown cultural and training centre. InJuly 2021 he wrote and performed in “The Best Medicine Show” at the St. John’s Arts &Culture Centre and toured with it across the Newfoundland in 2022 as part of Wonderbolt’s Fortieth Anniversary season.
Gil Anderson is one of Halifax’s favourite actors. Her versatility as a performer is evident across the multiple art forms that comprise her practice -- she’s equally at ease playing with the award-winning improv troupe “Hello City” as she is trodding the boards and appearing in film and television dramas.
Gil is also an accomplished voice actor, nascent stand-up comic, ACTRA council member, improv teacher, independent filmmaker, and old-school rap aficionado.
Luba Magnus is one of the most unique comedic acts you can find. Often seen mixing her stand-up with music and drawings, she’s a staple in Canada’s alt-comedy scene. Her debut stand-up album “Baba Luba” has received critical acclaim: NPR’s Bullseye With Jesse Thorn described it as “enthusiastic, warm, and weird” in their 2022 Stand Up Comedy Spectacular, amongst acts such as Tig Notaro, Jen Kirkman, and Roy Wood Jr. Paste Magazine listed it #10 in their Best Comedy Albums of 2022, describing it as “equal parts clever and nonsensical with her creative wordplay”.Luba has toured across Canada, was selected to perform in SiriusXM’s 2019 Top Comic competition, and was nominated as a “Breakout Comic of the Year” at Toronto’s I Heart Jokes Awards. Also known for her comedic films and artwork, Luba’s creations have appeared on Funny or Die, CBC, and won the 2021 TOSketchfest “Outstanding Comedy Short” award. With her eclectic approach to comedy and passion for making people laugh, Luba Magnus is sure to delight.
Victoria Novak is an entertainment and media lawyer, practicing in all aspects of the film and television industries, as well as music, new media, book publishing, dance, and modeling matters. She has developed extensive experience in the arts and culture sector through roles in private practice, at a Canadian copyright collective and a cultural agency of the Government of Ontario. Victoria was called to the Law Society of Ontario in 2013 and is currently Director, Business & Legal Affairs at WildBrain in Toronto.Victoria has acted for a wide variety of clients, including film, TV and new media producers, writers, directors, musicians, photographers, authors, actors, dancers, and trademark and copyright owners. Victoria has extensive experience drafting and negotiating performer agreements, E&O insurance reviews, licensing agreements, rights assignments and acquisitions, co-production agreements, management and agency agreements, copyright infringement notices, film financing agreements and a variety of other intellectual property related documents.
Victoria is also a registered trademark agent and handles a variety of trademark related matters, including applications for registration, renewals, extensions, examiner’s reports, opposition proceedings, Section 45 proceedings, and infringement matters.Prior to attending the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, Victoria earned undergraduate degrees in music and political science from McGill University. Victoria has spoken on many panels at music, film and new media conferences, and has led several seminars on the ins-and-outs of entertainment law for artists and creators. Victoria is an avid flute and piccolo player and is currently President of the Board of Directors for Opera 5, a Toronto-based independent opera company.
Sylvia Beirnes is the Co-Founder of Canadian Content Studios alongside Jonathan Torrens. CCS is committed to delivering funny, fresh feel-good content through broadcast TV, digital content and podcasts. Before starting CCS, Sylvia worked for brands including Mercedes-Benz, Empire Theatres, UP Express and Cineplex, helping to lead digital marketing efforts, brand integration and strategy. Sylvia’s deep knowledge of Brand Marketing is rivalled only by her passion for pop culture.
Sylvia and Jonathan now work with networks and brand partners alike to create memorable and meaningful content that tickles the funny bone and connects with audiences leveraging the platforms they love the most. CCS has been the perfect outlet to allow her marketing skills to shine, while also adding the title of Host, Producer, Writer and Director to her resume.
